More about this product
This product sadly is being discounted and the best before date is 07/22 hence the discount. I have found the best before doesn’t mean out of date, I have successfully used these colours for dying clothes, which I will share with you in a written form on the back of the sealed bag they are posted in.
The review on the gel colours is totally those of All But The Cake, based solely on observations when mixing the gel colours with 15g of Fondant (Satin Ice brand). Some colours required a larger amount, and more mixing, while could have used less colour and blended extremely well. Each colour has its own comment, and we used a standard amount of colour was applied to the same amount of fondant 15g, also using a toothpick as an applicator. This method stopped the fondant ball from being saturated with too much colour. Except, of course, I broke this rule when it came to white. I was sure this was under control but I made a mess…. I just kept adding more to see if the colour would change, but this only made fondant sticky. More info on white, on the 30g White Gel page.
The Rustic Green gel to me this gel has the wrong name, it’s a lovely shade of green more on the yellow side than on the rustic side. I would add either a touch of brown or red to make a more avocado colour. Easy to mix this colour and just a lovely shade. I do not think it would go any darker, but adding a dot of colour to white would make this a shade really different hue, which I will try at another date. A must to play with and experiment with. The taste in any of the colours was not evident in any of the fondants, just be aware that the taste can change.
Just a word of warning, you may think the red or any other colour will stain your hands, and decide to wear plastic gloves. Do not be tempted and this will stop the colour from mixing and you will end up with blotches of colour. (Look at the brown photo I used gloves) This gel easily washes off after using, but maybe visible under your fingernails, in the case use lemon juice and a nail cleaner to remove the colour. The warmth in your hands aides the blending of the colours in the fondant,
Results may differ on other mediums such as buttercream and sugar. Not Recommended for chocolate as water is an ingredient.

These gels come in a tube rather than a bottle, great in warm weather as every drop can be squeezed out, in cool weather warm the tube in your hands, so the flow of the gel is more fluid. If you think the tube is empty cut off the flat end to use the remaining colour. Waste not want not.
